How to Play Spartacus Gladiator of Rome Slot
Spartacus: Gladiator of Rome slot was designed by the team at WMS. This is a bit of a unique slot machine. There are two sets of reels. You have a 5x4 reel and a 5x12 reel. This second reel is known as the ‘colossal reel’, which we will talk about in a short while. The minimum bet on the machine is 50p and the maximum bet is £250.
The theme of this game, if you had not guessed already, is ancient Rome. Symbols include Roman helmets, swords, Spartacus, and lions, with a few basic symbols thrown in for good measure. It looks OK. It is not anything special. The thing is, the colossal reel has such small symbols that it is very difficult to spot any detail on them. We are hard-pressed to work out how WMS could have improved this. So, we don’t have any major gripes with them. They tried the best they could. We aren’t art designers, they are. We are sure this is how it is meant to be. The music to the game is great, however.
The game may look a bit tricky to begin with. We wouldn’t blame you if you were confused at the start. We were. The whole double reels thing has only really been attempted once, and that was also by WMS.
However, you will very quickly realise that it plays just like your standard slot machine, albeit with a few key notes, which we will cover. Everything else is the same. This means playing about with how much you want to bet on the reels and how many lines you wish to play (remember, it is up to 100 pay lines!)
Bonus Rounds & In Game Features
Alright, let’s start with the colossal reels. We are sure you are itching to know what they are about. The colossal reels, essentially, give you multiple symbols on a payline.
This means three symbols per two lines on the ‘main reels’. This gives you more opportunities to win. It is a nifty feature and we certainly do love it as it keeps the wins coming in nice and fast. If you get a wild on the standard reels, then this wild will transfer over to the colossal reels and become a ‘stacked’ wild. This means that it covers the entire reel. Again, this means that you are going to have more opportunities to win.
The other feature comes in the form of free spins. This will be triggered if you get at least three of the coliseum symbols on the reels. The more you get, the more spins you have. At the minimum, you are going to get 8 free spins and 2x your stake back. 12 free spins and 5x your stake if you get 4, 20 free spins and 20x your initial stake for 5. Basically, you are going to get a lot of free spins thrown at you. You can get a Spartacus wild symbol during these spins which will stack!
Spartacus Gladiator of Rome Mobile Slot
There is also a Spartacus: Gladiator of Rome mobile slot machine available. This plays in exactly the same way as the desktop version of the game, which is brilliant. However, we are once again going to need to highlight the fact that the symbols are just so small on the colossal reel.
They are even smaller on mobile screens (obviously). There is enough distinction between the symbols for it not to be a major issue, but still would have been lovely to have them a touch bigger. Again, we understand why WMS could not go down this route.
Summary – What Do We Think?
We love the uniqueness of the Spartacus: Gladiator of Rome slot machine. In fact, we have loved pretty much every WMS machine that we have managed to get our hands on.
